Hi, I have a 2002 Altima with 104,000 miles on it. I replaced my head gasket about 2 months ago, which was a costly repair. I need to sell it now, since I am having another child and my family will no longer be able to fit in this car. But, my check engine light has been on for a couple of weeks now, reading a catalytic converter error. I know this could be another expensive repair. At the same time, I am going through about 2 quarts of oil per week (this just started after my last oil change). I took it back to who did my oil change and they said it was completely dry, so I wasn't leaking any oil. However, it's not smoking either. I don't know where all of this oil could be going. It also makes a weird sound sometimes when I'm driving, and my husband says it sounds like the valves need more oil (but at that moment, my oil level was fine). With these problems, I cannot get anywhere near a fair price for the car. Does anyone know what could be the problem, and if there are any easy fixes? Thank you!

Is your car the 2.5 model? if so I think there is a recall on the catalytic converter so that might not cost you anything. As for the missing oil....not too sure what to say there.

I had my head gasket replaced on mine and six months later the car developed an oil leak at the back of the head. Take off the plastic engine cover and look around the head for any leaking oil.

I can't find the recall listed anywhere. When I had the head gasket problem (antifreeze leaking), my cat was giving error codes, too. They suggested that I have it replaced at my cost, but they had said that there was a 50/50 chance that the cat problems would clear up with a new head gasket. My SES light turned back off for a month or so, and now it's been back on. If you know where I could find the recall information or who I could call to find information, I would appreciate it. Thank you!
