I have a 2002 Altima that has a problem with the drivers side power window. Sometimes, when I attempt to close it, and pull up on the lever it goes all the way to the top and then it goes back down about a quarter of the way. When I try to close it again it repeats this. The only way for me to close it completely is to do the following: Turn the engine off but keep the ignition on, pull up on the lever, when it gets to the top then turn the key completely off. Geeesh!!! This intermittent occurence usually happens more the warmer the weather gets. Coinicidence??...I'm not sure!

What would cause this...some sort of misaligned sensor? The car was in a bad head on collision last year, so maybe something got out of place???

Thanks!

very common. your limit switch is prob out of whack. try just picking up a little on the window switch(dont engage theauto function). if this works ok you will need to adjust the limit switch. are you comfy with pulling the door panel?

Is it a difficult task to remove the door panel? Once I have the panel removed where is the limit switch located?

Thanks!

emoving the door panel is pretty easy but you gotta do it gently so you dont break any of the plastic trim peices. The limit switch is right in the middle of where the three bolts are that hold the power window motor to the door.

Try this first as I have had some success with it. put your window all the way to the top using the manual up. once it is all the way to the top, completely. make sure your sun roof and other windows are all fully closed. Disconnect both battery cables and touch them together for 30 secs. do not let them touch the battery during this time. Then hok the battery back up and go test your window and see if it works properly. If it doesnt then you need to reset it manually using the limit switch procedure. I have had a few that wouldnt do it the battery way but most will work that way.

NISTECH,This weekend I tried removing the door panel to adjust the limiter switch (the battery method didn't work ), but I couldn't figure out what was still holding the panel in place. I was able to release all sides of the panel, but there seems to be something still connected where the power switches are. Do you have any idea what else could be holding the panel in place?

Thanks!

you need to remove the screw in the pull handle and pop the switch plate out.
