Car: 2002 Altima 2.5l auto transmissionProblem: After driving the car 30-40 minutes and coming to a stop the gas pedal will not respond. The car does not die and it will idle at 750, but when I press the gas nothing happens. I can put the car in neutral and park and it will rev when I hit the gas, but when I put it back into drive or reverse, it will not rev. It usually takes about a minute or so of the car sitting in park and it will start working fine again. Also, when I flick the headlights to high beams, the abs light (and sometimes the brake light) will come on. This usually happens once a day. The check engine light is not on and there are no stored codes. I have replaced the throttle body and completed the idle learn. Anyone else with the same problem or any ides as to what may be the problem?

I am not a mechanic, but with the throttle being electronically controlled, I would guess your ECU is having troubles. It could also be wiring issues (seeing as the dash lights act sporadically). Is there any after market electronics in the car? Stereo, fog lights, neons, etc. If the installer of an item like this damaged the main wiring harness while installing the accessory it COULD cause a problem like this. My gut reaction is the ECU though.

I hope this helps.

Everything is oem as far as the electronics. I thought the ecm as well, but since the lights on dim when the throttle will not work, I'm thinking maybe more of an electrical issue, ground wires, battery connector, IPDM, etc. I don't really want to go through all the wiring, so I was seeing if anyone else had this problem and how they solved it before I started into the hellhole of wiring.....

It certianly seems elecrical to me as well - I can't think of any other explanation that would hit at what your problem is....

I think you might just have to suck it up and check your wires...

ugadawg I have a 2005 altima 2.5 and it is doing the EXACT same thing It's been doing it for around a year now but it has been hit and miss and I would just turn it off turn it back on and away she'd go but the other night it did it and i let it sit over night came back it fired up and it only made it about a quarter mile before it did it again so I got it towed to the dealer and they have it now waiting to hear something back on it the guy was jerking me around say that he's positive it's not going to be the computer recall that it's going to be a sensor of some sort. I didn't like how he was "positive." My CEL is on but only because of no CATS I know that for a fact i checked before it went to the dealer so if he tries jerking me around some more I'm going to school his little nerd ars anywho he did say the the computer when it does act up that it does NOT throw a CEL so I am guessing that is what is causing yours bud call your local dealer and tell them what's going on and hopefully you don't get a 19 year old kid like i did that thinks he knows everything..

It was the recall on the computer drives like new now but I'm not sure if there is a recall on the 02 altimas someone with more knowledge on the subject will surely know but it doesn't hurt to call your local dealer and see what they say
