2001 xterra 6cyl manual

This is driving me buggy....Cranks and runs...10 amp fuse labelled meter blows and gauges all die along with ck engine light. At this point the alternator stops charging and code reads 464.....fuel level circuit. Rinse and repeat. I have put a new alternator on and replaced the fuel sending unit. No help. Same problem. Appreciate any advice.

Sounds to me like you have a short in the wiring, you said it will run but then dies, at what point will it die?

Thanks for the reply. The engine keeps running but all gauges including check engine light all go black. This same fuse also controls the starting switch circuit so after turning off the engine it won't start again until the fuse is replaced. It blows within seconds. Yes, I'm afraid I am going to be tracing and inspecting a lot of wires :/

everything stock? If body lifted or ever wrecked, look around areas for wires chafing....all I can suggest on this one
