A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hi everyone,

I thought the 2001 Sentra GXE had ABS. Wheels lock up good - so, was it an option for the GXE and my grandmother didn't buy it? I thought it was standard, along with airbags. Anyone else have insight? Appreciate any knowledge share...

ABS is not standard on that model.

Braking is provided by a power-assisted front disc/rear drum braking system on XE, GXE and CA models and 4-wheel discs on SE. A 4-channel/4-sensor Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is optional on GXE and SE models. Anti-lock brakes and side-impact air bags are a smart buy at $699 for GXE and SE.
You should have an ABS light on the dash at startup if you have ABS.

Hello; Rogue one is correct. My 2001 Sentra SE does not have ABS. It may seem odd, but as the car and I get older I am not concerned. For one thing I have been driving most of my life without such a system so have some practice. The other is my brake system will be simpler and less expensive to repair.

Thanks for the responses Rogue and SK. I don’t see an ABS light when I turn on the car, so I have my answer.

Grandma cheaped out.

It’s a great little car!
