Ok heres the deal i am not a "master" mechanic nor am i a "master"car electrician but i know my way around an engine and transmission and up until nowi have never been stumped by an electrical issue in my own vehicle. In fact usually my friends come to me when they are stumped.....until about a week ago, i started noticing some warning signs but nothing major, first was the key chime staying on even after removing the key with the door open, then the dome light wouldnt always come on, 4 days ago things got more concerning the key fobs started to stop working so i replaced the batteries for both and then "reset" them to my car this didnt seem to help, also my car locks would randomly lock while driving down the road. I took my day off work and hunted down every connecting hub and connecter and fuse involved with the power locks and took my test light and checked every single pin and wire and fuse everything checked out fine....a day later i left my car running and ran in my appartment and my car locked itself luckily i had a spare to open the door...now as of last night all the fuses check out fine the fuseable links check out fine but i cant lock or unlock my door with the fobs or with the switch on the doors and when i checked i no longer have current to the door lock switch in the driver side door but i have power in the pins under the fuseable links under the hood i know the bcm(nissan calls it the secm i believe?) Is under the dash but before i tear my dash apart and before i order a part from a dealership i want a second opinion. I should also note that my rear defrost and dome light do not work although the fuses related to these systems are fine as well? Are these somehow connected to this secm system?

Hi there,

This definitely sounds like a BCM issue. I had a similar issue on another Nissan/Infiniti product (2011 Infiniti M56x) where my lights weren't working after I shorted a footwell light and part of the problem was the BCM and some other harnesses. I'd definitely start with a BCM. You can get one relatively cheap on EBay and test with that...
