i have a 2001 sentra that keeps blowing the audio fuse hunder the hood. the stereo was working fine when i turned the car off. i always remove the head unit face. 15 minutes later i put the face back on and started the car. the stereo did not have any power then. i did not do anything different than i normally do. the 15 fuse under the hood was blown. it now blows out as soon as i insert a new one. i have never had this happen before. any ideas as to what keeps blowing the fuse right away. the car is turned off when i replace the fuse but it stills blows.

thank you for any help you can provide.

A simple thing you can try, assuming you have no test equipment, is to pull the radio out and unplug it. Then replace the fuse again and see if it still blows. If it doesn't blow then you have a bad radio. If it does blow, then it is something else on that same circuit..... maybe dome light etc. This will give you a place to start though.

ok i disconnected the radio and pig tail harness from the factory harness. with the ignition shut off the fuse still blows out as soon as i plug it in under the hood. everything else in the car works fine except for the radio. no other fuses are blown out or missing. i am not sure if the power to that audio fuse under the hood should cut off when the car is off. i know the stereo always shuts off when the car is off but now there is constant power to the audio fuse under the hood even when the car is turned off. do you have any other ideas because now i do not know. thank you for your help. dan.

Check out the FSM and figure out what else is on that circuit. This stuff is never fun to track down.
