Okay, I have read a lot of treads and spent dollars, here is my problem:
2001 2WD Crew Cab SC Frontier, recurrent knock sensor code, engine light on. Once went off by itself. Have new wires, plugs, air filter. Truck runs strong, except MPG about 12-13 average. Any ideas, thanks.

Knock sensors are chronic problems for your engine, they all seem to fail. The sensor is in the worst spot and gets cooked all day long, it's only a matter of time before they fail. The SC engine loses so much power because of this, the NA not so much. The solution I am planning on after doing some internet reading and visiting www.nicoclub.com/FSM to download the Factory Service Manual I will attempt to relocate and bypass the OEM knock sensor using a Maxima sensor and some wire splicing into the engine harness. The different style sensor that can be mounted on top of the intake manifold, wired up and be reliable from that day forward...also easier to replace if it happens to fail again. I have a inactive knock sensor code on my 02 Frontier which I would like to fix soon, this Spring perhaps.

Don't forget to check the vacuum lines if they are hooked up properly.
