Hi all,

About 2 month ago my car wouldnt start, it would just crank over. I changed the fuse for the fuel pump, the one just below the steering wheel, and that took care of the problem. The car started right up and ran like nothing ever happened. A few time since then it would take two or three turns of the key to start the car but nothing too bad. This morning it wouldnt start again so I did the same thing, changed the fuse but this time i actually looked at the fuse and there was nothing wrong with it. The car started with no problem after changing it with a new one. I turned off the car agian tried starting it, no go. Car wouldnt start. I pressed on the fuse and pushed it in and gave it a wiggle and the car started right up. Has anyone got an idea of what could be causing this? thanks,

mike

Maybe a bad contact in the fuse block?

I'll have to check that out when i get home tonight. thanks!

I was wondering how hard it would be to replace the fuel pump in the QX4? would i have to drop the tank or can i get to it another way? it has over 100,000 miles on it and probably would need to be replaced soon anyway. And, the fuel pump relay, where is that and how long do those last?

Thanks for any help on this,

mikem

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'd imagine that you'd have to replace the fuse block. I'm not so good with electrical parts other than remove and replace.

As for the fuel pump, I believe that it can be removed without taking the tank down through an access hole behind the rear seat. I've never done it on my QX4.

I sent you an email with a section from the service manual pertaining to the fuel pump.
