Hey all, I was scouring eBay earlier looking to potentially purchase a new remote for my car since I lost mine and don't want to pay a ridiculous amount from the stealership. I ran across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...34840 and was wondering if anyone knew whether or not it would work. It says from 02-up qx4's, but to my knowledge, there isn't much difference is there? This would be excellent considering I have always wanted to have an integrated key/remote fob; I find it odd Infiniti hasn't already done this to most of their vehicles. Anyone with experience or general advice? Anything is appreciated, thanks!

Make sure the FCC IDs match--even with genuine Nissan key fobs, models that look identical can have different FCC IDs. You need to make sure you get the one that's right for your car.

Also, keep in mind that Infiniti will need to program the physical key for NATS (the car's security system) which they will charge for. As I recall, it is not cheap.

Regarding Nissan/Infiniti combo keys like that one:Nissan does make keys in that style (much smaller form factor, though), but doesn't make them available for US models for some reason.I personally dislike them. They make the key bulky. I'd rather have a smaller, slimmer key and a separate fob.All new Nissans and Infinitis have keyless ignition. The keyless ignition fobs have a small removable emergency key.

^^ quite accurate but id like to add that you dont necessarily have to go to the dealership to get the key programmed - any legit locksmith should have the tools and programming instructions to get the job done at a fraction of the dealer cost (I paid $60 for just programming at a locksmith, versus $300+ for just programming at the dealer --- i also paid $40 for the NATS key off ebay versus $120+ at dealer) PS that euro style key looks good. Never seen it before.

if you search online, you might be able to find the reprogramming instructions online.

If you also buy a remote from one of the ebay sellers, they usually include reprogramming instructions so need for a trip to the dealer.

but I'm not so sure about the newer models
