2001 QX4: Upgraded Shocks? Can only find OEM type replacements

Does anyone know what other manufacturers make shocks/struts for the 2001 QX4? It seems like there should be many options but for some reason Nissan has a whacky suspension set up and all I can find are KYB which are, as they call them, OEM replacement parts (similar to).

I actually take my QX4 in mud, through trails, go fishing and camping and so I was hoping for something like a Rancho, Superlift, Pro-Comp, Bilstein, Etc.

Ideas? Feedback?

Try 4x4parts.com. You can at least get KYB, OME, Rancho for struts. Those and a few others for shocks, including Bilstein. You are probably due for new coil springs as well.
