2001 QX4 torque converter removal question

Searched this forum without any luck so can anyone please tell me if a torque converter can be removed from a 2001 QX4 4wheel drive without dropping the whole transmission assembly?

I have the FSM and see the instructions for the trans assembly removal on page 277. I can't see anything on removing just the torque converter.

You must remove the transmission.
