I own a 2001 QX4 and the studs that hold the lugnuts keep breaking on my QX4. I have had to replace nearly all of them on the front and I have never had to do this for any other car or truck that I have owned. Is this a common problem for the QX4 or pathfinder to have?

Thank You!

First I've heard of this problem. Hasn't come up on this forum that I can remember, and I've been here a while.
I have an '02, and all my studs are still original.
Two things come to mind right away:
Do you have non OEM rims? and secondly, does the person who pulls the wheels torque the lugnuts properly?

I've got an '01 Pathfinder with 229,000 miles. No broken studs.

What Buzzman said.

And is somebody tightening the lugs with an impact wrench? That's a job for a torque wrench. I run
the studs down with a cordless drill, then a speed wrench, and finish with a torque wrench.

Same here.
I switch tires/rims twice a year (snows in winter, all terrain in summer),
and I use my 18V impact driver to start them down, then finish up torquing them by hand.
If I ever have my rims re and re at a garage, the first thing I do when I get home is loosen them off and re-torque them.
Most garages still insist on using impact wrenches, and they are always too tight.
BTW, incorrectly tightened lug nuts will also contribute to rotor warping.

Thanks for the replies....Everything is OEM on the car, including the rims. I do believe it has to do with the places that have taken the tires off to do work on the QX4. I will make sure to be specific to mention this anytime a place takes the tires off of the QX4. THANKS for the info!

I have only had my truck for 1 year and pulled the wheels off maybe 4-5 times.

I have had to replace 3 on the front right and all 6 on the front left

only use a impact gun to loosen, hand start and torque wrench it to tight.

no clue why i go thru studs
