I have a QX4 that smokes white at times, it might go three or four days without smoking, and then it will start smoking. The smoke only occurs on start up, it clears up while driving. Does anyone have any ideas?

First real check would be to have a compression test done on all the cylinders. Bad valve guide or piston ring is my guess.

White smoke usually indicates a coolant leak, like a head gasket maybe.
If it's oil, it would be bluish.
Could be nothing more than condensation burning off, or it could be serious (like the head gasket).
Check your oil level and consumption, and also check your coolant level, for starters.
