2001 QX4 Power Antenna

My wife went through the automatic car wash with the radio on and forgot to turn it off so the antenna would go down.......so it got bent all to heck. I ordered a replacement mast but I was not able to get out the old one....something broke or bent down inside the core of the power antenna. Anyone know if the Pathfinder power antenna is the same? I cant even find a used one anywhere.....eBay has some universal stuff but im not to sure about that. Dealer wants like $250 for it new.....that's crazy. Let me know what you guys know! Thanks. The pathfinder antenna is the same.

I replaced mine a few years ago. I think I had the same problem as you.

The Instructions I found said to undo the little ring and then yank on the mask, but mine was seized. I ended up using vice grips to yank on the mask. After I did that, I found out that a chunk of the white geared plastic cord that runs in the center on the mask had broken inside the reel.

To access the reel mechanism, you just take off the fender liner from that area to gain access.

I took apart the mechanism, fished out the white geared plastic, and put it all back.


Then I forgot to lube the mast up, and on a cold day it snapped again...
