Last week had code 0171 and the mechanic fixed what he said was a vacuum leak. Next day same code the I had to replace the MAF (not cheap). Next day code 0430 and now 0420. My vehicle is a 2001 QX4 built in May 2000 it has 139,000 km on it. On the Infiniti help website there is a technical service bulletin ITB02-050a referring to the 0430 and 0420 codes and references the ECM part number to check which if it matches says that the ECM needs to basically be reprogrammed to be not so sensitive. I told the dealer about the TSB today and left the vehicle with them all day. The technician didn't even look at the TSB and spent the day following the service manual and performing a bunch of checks. They now want me to bring the vehicle back leave over night and the need to lower the catalytic convertors to see if they are plugged? What should I do? Should I be insisting that the look at the TSB that clearly says that my vehicle needs the ECM reprogrammed and to not replace the catalytic convertors as part of the process? Or is the 2002 TSB not applicable because of the mileage on my vehicle and maybe the CAT's are plugged? Any help would be appreciated.
