Hello,

I am not sure about the color but I just had a oil leak under the engine in my 2001 QX4. It turned out to be the oil cooler assembly. It was replaced by Infiniti and the leak has since stopped. I am not a car person and can't fix much but I was told by a friend that it may just be the o-rings inside the cooler which may have worn away. Infiniti did not tell me this and replaced the whole thing. I am pretty sure that they don't rebuild parts so I suppose I understand. Fix with labor was about.......450 or so. Hope this may help.

It really could be any of the fluids.

Oil and differential fluid: Light brown when it is new, turns dark brown or black as it gets older. Oil will also turn yellow and foamy if water has gotten into it. You will actually need to drain it to see this. If this happens, change it immediately.Transmission and power steeing fluid: Pink when new, turns brown when very old or burned, but generally stays pink until changed.Coolant: Generally appears bright green, but looks clear in certain light.Brake fluid: Clear when new, turns a light brown over time.

Depending on when your last oil change was, you likely have an oil leak since those are most common. Your best bet is to check all of your fluids and see which one matches the fluid you are finding under neath. Once you've done that, get underneath and try and identify where it is coming out.
