Can anyone help ??

Just inherited car with this issue: driver side low beam light is out but the high beam works. Is this just a bad plasma bulb or a balast ?

Thanks

install the good low beam bulb into the side that doesnt work and see if it turns on, if not its probably a ballast.

The high beam is separate from the xenon charged low beam. The high beam is halogen. Like nissandoms47 said, pull the good HID bulb out from the good side and place it on the bad side and see if it comes on. If it does, then you automatically know it's your HID, if it doesn't come one, it's your ballast. If it's your HID bulb, let me know and I can direct you to a very good person who sell's the HID bulb part for your truck, I had my HID bulbs replaced about 3mths ago, haven't had a problem since then.

i will be doing this bulb swap tommorrow and if its the bulb i will let you know so i can go to wherever you go yours from. Question. if it's not the bulb and it's the ballast is there a place to buy a ballast cheap instead of the dealership ???

Thanks so much...

Absolutely, if I'm not mistaken, the same seller I went to sells the OEM ballasts for our trucks. One thing though, I doubt it's your ballast, most cases it's just a bad bulb. Forgot to mention, if it's your HID bulb, you will need to replace both side bulbs, if you only buy 1 bulb you will encounter discoloration due to the Kelvin (new bulb vs old bulb). Make sure you order both to replace. Also the seller I know only sells Xenon bulbs in pair and are OEM factory (Phillips D2R 85126<------this is the part no.)

Yes absolutely.....

The seller's name is akinaboy, I bought my HID bulbs from him, very satisified! OEM part. Remember the part you need is a D2R 85126 or D2R 85126+. The one with the plus sign are the ones I have on my truck, they are very bright and clear, no dissapointment. The 85126+ are an upgraded version of the standard 85126. The kelvin on the standard 85126 is 4300 and the kelvin for the 85126+ is an upgraded 5000. Don't worry, the 85126+ won't cause any melting, they are basically the same wattage 35w but with a slighter brighter kelvin temp. Also the 85126+ won't discolorate with continuous use. Your choice of what you want, Let me know if you have any other questions.

BTW, here's a pic of my bulbs "ON", not a great picture because of the camera glare but gives you an idea of what to expect.

Kelvin is color, not brightness.
