My 6 disc in dash bose changer is on its way out. Sometimes it will read discs and other times it won't. Infiniti said it would be 300 to replace or repair. I can't justify 300 for a factory system. Having the dual din deck, I thought about getting a navigation unit. Little did i know how expensive they are! However, ever looking into them and falling in love with them, I'm going to go ahead and have one installed in about 2 weeks. I have a few questions though.

1. Is the kenwood p-nav7015 a good unit? This is a dual din unit so it should look pretty flush and factory which is good... I don't like things sticking out or looking odd.

2. Is it dumb to put such an expensive unit in a car that has 45k miles?

3. Where does the breakout box for the navigation usually get installed on cars? Does it go under the seat, in the trunk?

Any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,Doug

1. yes, that is a great unit2. You should know that your ride is extremely nice and that 45k on a Nissan/Infiniti means that it has barely even lived yet. I would put that unit in my Altima that has 240k miles and be totally happy with it.Also... keep all of your factory stuff in a box somewhere so you can put it back in when you sell your QX4. You don't get any more $$$ for your ride if it has a sweet stereo.3. It depends on the size of the unit. You can put it wherever you can find space. I would say that it would be perfect to hard mount it in the top center part of your glove box (so that it does not move when the glove box is opened). It takes a bit of fabrication, but is well worth it. OEM stuff is usually located in glove boxes if there is no provision in the dash. Since you want it to look proper, (as you should) then the glove box is the perfect place.Good Luck!

In doing a lot of research into in-dash navi systems for my 2002 Xterra, I looked at a lot of different units. In my experience, you just can't go wrong with a Kenwood head unit. However, since I was going for a high quality system, the Eclipse AVN2454 fit my needs a little better. I'm not too sure of the price on the Kenwood you are looking at, but the Eclipse was worth every penny. I have had the unit for about 8 months now and I absolutely love it. Also, it is a self-contained unit so there is no need to hide a navigation module. Here are some pics.
