A few days ago I bought a 2001 QX4 with 104,000 miles. Next morning the car wouldn't start. The starter engaged but after trying for an hour, it wouldn't start. Finally, after I went to work my wife got it started. Since that time it's done the same thing a couple times-- won't start so we wait and then it starts right up. I've noticed the red security light blinks when I try to start it. Is that normal or does it indicate the security system is engaged and keeping the car from starting? Is there maybe a fuel cutoff in the security system? I assume it has the standard security system. I have searched the recent and archived threads and didn't see any answers to these specific questions. From reading the posts I gather that a fuel 'cutoff' system is NOT a part of the stock security system, but I wasn't certain. When it DOES start, it does so without any hesitation, but it seems to have a mind of its own. Any ideas?
