Hi,

Just bought a 2001 QX4 with 102,300 miles on it. The SUV drives fine but with one problem now.

The speedometer is not moving at all and also the gas is stayed on full all the time. The tachometer and the temperture gauge are working.

Does anyone know a place where I can get a used instrument cluster to replace this one?

If replace it in the dealer, how much would that cost?Does anyone know a good dealer in the New York City or Long Island Area?

Thanks for help.:help

that cluster is called a unified meter. the place we get them from is in NY not sure where exactly. but we have them over night here in california. they set the milage to your current milage and install it. not sure how much they run cause all the ones I have replaced were under factory warrenty still here.

NISTECH thanks...

Okay, I have located a used instrument cluster from a junk yard but the mileage is different. Is the mileage start counting from the junk yard unit or my broken unit? Do I need to go to the dealer to reset the computer? Is it difficult to install it by myself?

Thanks for help

its easy to install the dealer can not reset the cluster in house. they would have to sublet it since it is stored in the unit itself. I dont know if in NY they do this but here in california if you go to DMV (dept of motor vehicles) they can issue you a milage correction sticker you put on your door which states the difference between the 2 odometers. then you add or subtract that any time you need the correct milage.

Can anyone help with posting a guide on how to take out the instrument cluster on a 01 QX4? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have much to say, but welcome to Nico, and that yes indeed, NISTECH is a huge help!!:D But i also wanted to mention that i know of a couple Infiniti dealers here on Long Island if you need one. They seem good to me! And i go to one of them when ever I need anything, and they seem nice, however they did change their name, so I don't know if they changed owners. But i'll help you out when ever i can!:D

to get the cluster out you need to remove the coloum covers they have screws in the bottom. once you pop those off you need to remove the bezel around the cluster area. this may require removal of the lower panel as well depends on weather they over laped the lower panel over the cluster bezel. there are 2 screws going up into the top portion of the bezel you take out. and there should be 2 on the bottom which may not be reveled till the lower panel is off. once you get the trim off and out of the way. you will see 4 screws around the outside edge of the cluster remove those and the cluster lifts right out. there will be several connectors to disconnect along the way. some in the upper panel/bezel and some on the back of the cluster. its easiest to release these connectors with a pocket screw driver.
