We were told our 4th coil needed to be replaced so i purchased one online and took it in to have it replaced (Engine light was on and car was not running good at all ). I picked it up this evening and hte light is still on and its running the same as it was. The mechanic said i need to drive it 50 miles to know if the work fixed it. When we got home, My Husband looked to make sure they even replaced it and we "THINK" they replaced the wrong one. We are not sure though. Is there a diagram anywhere that shows all of the coils and what place they are in? I have been searching hte internet for an hour now. Thanks!!!

#4 cylinder is the middle one on the US driver's side.

And the mechanic should have cleared the code. BTW, what was the code?

not sure what the code was but we took it to autozone and they told us it was the 4th cylinder. We thought the 4th was one of the very hard to reach areas and the one the mechanic replaced is the first one on the left that is really easy to reach. Does that sound right? They seemed to be in a huge hurry so i just cant imagine they did it correctly.

i found a diagram...from an older post http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/QX...e.pdf The mechanic replaced #2 ! That is what my Husband thought. I honestly think they did that on purpose. The great thing is, their credit card machine was down so i didnt pay them. Tmrw i will have them put it back the way it is and tell them im going somewhere else!

I recently changed my Ignition coils and I found #4 to be the most difficult. I had to remove the intake pipe and another sensor that was right above the coil. Take your truck somewhere else or have someone thats somewhat mechanically inclined change it out. Good Luck

If the code hasn't been cleared yet, take it back to Autozone and get it read again.Post the numeric code here (the codes P1000 and up are mfg-specific and there have been several cases of people being given the Ford meaning orChevy meaning,or (shudder) Toyota meaning.)

Also, if you are getting due for plugs, now's the time. The coil has to come offto change the plug. #4 and #6 are the hard ones.
