Sounds like the switch on the steering column. I had a similar issue with my '01 QX4 and replaced the switch which fixed the problem. I bought a new one from the dealer for about $80 which was surprisingly low. This seems to be a common issue.t_b0ne3 wrote:I have an 01' QX4 and when it gets below 45 degrees and the engine is cold the headlights will go out when I use the turn signals? When the blinker arm resets coming out of a turn it shuts the one on the side I turned to out or sometimes both? If anyone knows of a way to avoid this or fix it I would appreciate it!
Well I guess there is a limit to how many times the auto switch can be activated until it wears out. We'll just have to add this to the non existing list of things that eventually go bad.t_b0ne3 wrote:That seems to have stopped the issue completely! I'm just leaving the headlights in the "on" position and no more lights going off! LOL I work third shift so I kinda need them to stay on! Thanks for the help guy's!!
It wouldn't surprise me if it did and if it does it's an easy fix. It's also nice having a shiny new switch with fresh paint. Plus it feels much better using your turning signals with those nice new springs!slickroger wrote:I dont use anything but the auto switch i hope this doesn't happen to me
Just an update I used the "on" position for about 2 months now and just like you said I can now use the auto again without the blinkers shutting down either headlight! I love it!corymoto wrote:Same for me... It only happens when the lights are on 'auto'. They will either flash or turn off. I tried the 'on' position, and had no problems at all. I've also noticed that after using the 'on' position for a while and then going back to 'auto' seems to fix the 'auto' issue, but maybe that's just because things have warmed up a bit.
