Here's a question... are you doing this for aesthetics? or do you plan on more for function than form (making use of it)?

The original poster makes a rather common observation... 4300k HIDs are brighter and throw light further on the road.
The reason I put this up is because, FOG lamps are "supposed" to cut through rain and fog so you can see the road, when your headlamps are bouncing off the rain and fog. Mostly because it is lower, but it also has a little to do with the color... as you've probably seen all over the internet, yellow doesn't get bounced off rain and fog as much as whiter/blue light. I have 10000k, and it definitely isn't as "bright" as most HIDs, but I find it better than the stock halogens. But when it rains... they get bounced back a lot more than stock halogens.
That being said, if you're going for form (aka looks) by all means go with the 6000k. Right off the bat, they probably wouldn't match the headlamps (not exactly) since your headlamps have had a little time to "burn in." But after a while, they should look pretty close. If you're going for function (making use of them), I'd think 4300k or maybe 5000k would be a better choice, the color wouldn't get bounced back as much as the 6000k, and because it is brighter, it should throw even further than the 6000k. The only issue really is... where to put the ballast. I think someone else has done it (not Qxxx4, he was planning on it if he couldn't adjust the headlamps, but even though he has adjusted his lamps, he could do it later on). Finding a spot for the headlamp was annoying enough, now you have to find another pair of spots for the fogs...
On a side note... I had been "daydreaming" about putting a pair of auxiliary lamps, tuck them away like fogs... but put the most intense bulbs I can find. Their one and only goal... not for off-roading, but if you high beam me for no good reason, I will flash these to make you think twice about doing it again.
