I have a 2001 QX4 that DID NOT come with the factory optioned heated seats front/rear. I want to add the factory heated seats to my 2001 QX4. I already have the center console with the front and rear heated seat switches on them. My question is..... Does anyone here know if a 2001 QX4 without the heated seat option is prewired or not? Or do I need to buy some seats that has the heat elements build into them? If I'm missing something, what else do I need to make the factory heated seat option complete?

If it isnt prewired (I have no idea if it is or not), you can just take off the oem leather skin and put some aftermarket heaters under there and put the leather back on or get new leathers

Id love heated seats...

Anyone know of a replacement leather for the 01??

Yes, it is pre-wired for the heated seats. There should be some taped-up unconnected harnesses under the seat coming from under the carpet.

Why do you have the switches if the seats do have the actual heaters in them?

So are you saying that....1.) my seats have the heated seat elements already installed in them, or are 2.) you saying that it's wire harness ready (pre-wired, but still need the seats to have the heat elements installed) for some heated seats? Please clarify, thanks.

I have the heated seat switches because when I bought my QX4 the center console was missing a cover piece that is located beneath the parking brake handle and the center arm rest was broken. So I came upon a complete center console on ebay with everything I needed including the heated seat swithes. I am currently using one of those switches to turn on and off a pair of after market fog lights.

The wiring and harnesses are all in place already, but the seats do not have the heating elements.

Out of curiosity, I took a look under both front seats on my 02 QX4. I don't see any unconnected harness. Looks like there are four connectors under the passenger seat and they are all connected.

Are they not just under the seats , but under the carpet to be pulled out for use?

There should be five harnesses going into your drivers seat (one large one and four small ones). The large harness is for the seat control module (controls the memory seats). The four smaller harnesses are for the electric seat, the heated seat, the belt buckle warning and the side air bag. The seat heater harness (coming from the car) should be a gray 3-wire harness and should only be connected if you have seat heaters from the factory.

Double check all of those harnesses to make sure they are actually connected. If in fact the seat heater harness is connected to a harness coming from the seat then you may have factory seat heaters and you just need to install the switches to make them work, but it's very unlikely.

Does this hold true for Pathfinders as well, or does this only apply to the QX4? Thx.

Yes, the Pathfinders are also pre-wired for the heated seats. It's also a gray 3-wire harness on the Pathfinders.
