When I start my QX4 when it is cold, there is a loud embarassing squeal. When the engine is reved, the squeal gets louder. I though it was the belts or maybe the pulleys. However, both have been replaced earlier and are less than a year old. Infiniti told me it was the Air Conditioner Compressor. They said it is driven by a belt and that the noise. I don't buy it though. Any suggestions. My truck is always garaged so I don't think moisture is the problem. The sound becomes lower in volume after the truck warms up but it is still there. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I don't have much to say but I think you could try to spray some belt dressing on the running belts. If it is caused by them, it should make that noise go away, at least for a short time.

take the a/c belt off and start it up when its cold. if the noise is gone, then infiniti is on the right track, if not 100% correct.

Theres only one belt that weaves around through a bunch ofr pulleys. I am pretty sure that the ac does not have a seperate belt. However, I know jack about cars so if I am wrong then I appologize. Thanks.

I had this happen with my old explorer(junk) after I had a new belt put on. Once the new belt was "broken in" and stretched to its maximum length it was just loose enough to squeal and had to be tightened. I'm not sure if this is the same issue but it's a possibility.
