Hi, I recently purchased a 2001 QX4 with the climate control (not sure if this is standard or an option). For a few weeks the system seemed to be functioning properly when setting a temperature and pressing "AUTO." However, recently the temperature recognition seems to have failed. When set to the lowest temperature option, 65 F and press AUTO, it blows out extremely cold air. However when adjusted up just one degree to 66 and AUTO is selected it blows out extremely hot air not matter what the actual temperature is. This seems to be an issue when general temperature is selected as well. If I am running "manual" and just changing temperature I only have very cold at 65 and very hot at 66-80. Any thoughts or previous experience with this problem? Thanks!

Is the fan always blowing at maximum as well?

No, I have the ability to select from one of the four fan speeds or off. As I have read is common, my fan does still blow out the floor and windshield vents when the system is off however.

I'm not very familiar with the auto HVAC control system. Try cleaning the climate control sensor.

I've seen this before on Maximas, check the intake temperature sensor,

I know not the same car but I'm pretty sure the HVAC system electronics are very similar

This looks helpful thanks for the link. I'll return with results later this week.

I'll check it out, thanks. I know you said you've seen it before, but have you ever done it yourself? If so, I may have some questions as I'm handy but not necessarily the most auto oriented person.

I've done it before on my Infiniti I30, so definitely not the same job!
