2001 Qx4 - antenna options...please help

Hey all, I'm having the same problem as some of you in regards to my radio antenna not powering down all the way following vehicle shut off. It leaves like a 5-6 inch portion still raised, and has really started to bother me lately. I've been wanting to replace it with one of those flex antennas (is that what they're called?) that are roughly half the height of a normal one and are flexible. I'm not worried about radio reception as I never listen to the radio. Does anyone know if this is possible and where I can buy one of these antennas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Get the FSM, and pull the antenna out. If there are stripped plastic gears onthe end of the cable, get a new mast asy, done.
