Everything works fine even with the music i burned on CD-R's but i can't any type of disc (even if it's a new genuine CD) into CD 1 without the headunit saying "error" and freezing up. Whats wrong with it?!

There is a guy on ebay that has good feedback and will repair it for <$200. I am not endorsing this person and haven't used it, but I keep thinking about it. When the CD player on our 2001 conked out (Err2) I just bought a 30GB ipod and tape adapter. I still get frustrated when I just want to hear one cd, though. haha

Ouch, thats pricey. It's only CD 1 that doesn't work properly, the others work fine. I'm just paranoid that it's not functioning perfectly :P . At more than 200 bucks, i rather ditch out a little more and buy a used in dash player with navigation. I might just take the damn thing apart and figure out whats wrong and try to fix it . Hehehee DIY for the win!

Maybe hook myself up with one of these in dash navigation HUs!zerothread/255185

I had a similar issue, but all 6 locked up on my 01 QX4. After getting frustrated for far too long I ripped it apart and got my CDs back. Although I didn't find anything wrong inside, nothing jamming or in the way, when I put it back together it just spit the cds back out at me. I think my electronics ended up fried. I'm personally thinking new head unit. But, really don't want to replace the amps.

Heads up: If you are used to tearing things apart and such, you'll be fine with getting the unit out and tearing it down. It's a little tricky to figure out a few of the panels on the deck itself, but then again I never searched for any how-to docs.

Hello, I am a Nico sponsor. Our company repairs those for $225 with a year warranty. Vs most other place will warranty it for 3 months.

Thank you. I've bookmarked your page and when I get the car back to California I'll make the arrangements with you.

That's the nice thing about having a pre 01 R50. Same headunit as other vehicles. .

I dig the updated dash tho. .
