2001 QX4 4wd 156K miles - I just finished replacing the entire front suspension (Lower A-Arms, Ball Joints, Tie-rod ends, Sway Bar Links, Drive Shafts, Inner / Outer Hub Bearings and Races, Spindle Needle Bearings, Sway Bar Bushings) The struts were not replaced. I replaced them at about 95K so they have about 60K miles. I was hearing popping noises prior to the work when turning the wheel at a stop or at slow speed coming out of a garage.

The problem now is that I'm still hearing equivalent popping when I turn the wheel either left or right. I hear nothing when driving at speed. Any ideas as to what is still popping considering all the front suspension parts and drive shafts have been replaced? Could it be the front struts?

Additionally, I hear a solid clunking noise in the right front which sounds like it's coming from under the right front floor when a large bump or pop hole is hit. Under normal smooth road driving there is no noise. Any ideas? I noticed there appear to be some mounting brackets and bushings to the front transfer case. Could one of these be bad? Could it be a motor mount? Is it the strut?

Any ideas or suggestions welcome!

Could be a loose joint nut, tie rods, etc. Try searching, plenty of people have had this issue, including myself :)

Thanks for the tip! I checked and all the bolts are torqued to spec.
