2001 QX-4/CD stuck in unit

I am not sure how I did this but there is a cd stuck in the player.
When you select cd you can hear stuff whirring and clicking in there but the damn thing never ejects. It just keeps going around whirring and clicking and eventually stops.
The indicator light is on for that position.

Had a similar problem several years back on another QX-4 and the fix was a total replacement/refurbish. Had to remove it and send it to California. Put in the refurbished unit. Still works great and I would prefer not to donate it to the other QX-4

Does any one here know how to remove the cd and most importantly prevent it from happening again?

This may not be the option you're looking for, but it would prevent it from happening again. I gutted my cd player years ago (recovered the CD's) but kept the lower plastic cover intact, and put the adapter in it's place.

There are some other nice adapters out there now that have bluetooth and work with more than ipods.
