2001 Quest with a video cassette player in the console. Just bought the car used. Trying to remove the VCP cuz I need the storage space...I use the van for business. I removed the holding screw but it still will not release. Seems as though the release mechanism is broken or jammed. Anyone have any idea about this?
Thanks!
Jeff

Jeff - I'd remove the entire console - I'm betting there's a concealed fastener you're unable to see from the top.

Interesting idea. I thought of that, but in order to get to console mounting hardware you need to pull out the video cassete player.

i have a different type of VCP on mine that isn't included in the owners manual...

PS: i can only find the 2002 model online in english...

http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/refgh0v/ ... -quest.pdf

scroll down to page 4-41 & if your VCP looks like that one, follow the 1st paragraph

i also have a security screw that is located in a similar spot on the 2nd paragraph that you have to remove before you can pop out the VCP...

Thanks! But as I said in the beginning, I removed the safety screw but it seems as though that release handle is broken or jammed.
It feels like it is floppy and loose. It's not catching on whatever release mechanism it should be catching to release the VCP. I have the proper manual online for 2001. Looks exactly the same as your 2002 mentioned by Ricebike.
I just wondered if anyone had any experience with this situation where the release handle no longer operates?
