Recently had a TPS code P0120 and P1705 which indicated sensor failure. Drove for a little while, days. Parked pathy at work came out and would not go into reverse. Acted like engaged but will not even roll in reverse or D1 acts like brake on. Park ok Neutral ok will drive in D2 and D3. Any ideas. Gonna drop the pan and check the fluid. Not been changed in the last 120000 miles anyway. No leaks. Was driving fine til then except for the slight reving problem with the tps. Any ideas. Seems electrical but no other codes at all. The OD light works as it should.

Welcome to the forum!

Are you still getting those two codes, or did you do anything to remedy them? They both point to the throttle position sensor, so I'd replace that before doing anything else. The TCM (transmission control module) gets a signal from the TPS too, specifically when the throttle is fully closed and when it's more than 50% open, so it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out a bad TPS is causing your problems.

For reference, see the AT section of the FSM for P1705, and EC for P0120:

If you end up buying a replacement, I'd recommend the Hitachi since they were the original manufacturer of our throttle bodies:

If you've already replaced the TPS, check the transmission fluid level (and get new fluid regardless, given it's as old as it is).

Do the RPMs drop when you shift it into reverse or drive from park?

Thanks for the reply. I did replace the tips with a Hitachi model and readjustment the tps and have a good idle. Don't really see an rpm drop but it's just odd the way it feels like it's engaging but then you can rev the engine but will not go backward in reverse or forward in D1. Feels like the brake is on. Thought it might be limp mode but seems like reverse would still work. Gonna drop the pan tomorrow.
