I have the 2001 Pathfinder with Nav that has the climate control as part of the same unit. like most people on these Nissan forums, all my buttons have fallen off. I use a paper clip to change settings.
So i want to replace the Nav with a separate climate control.
So my question(s) is:
Can i install a Manual Climate Control on this car and take out the Nav unit?
My thoughts after reading a ton of forums is that i will remove the Nav in the 2 Din spot, move my Bose radio to that spot, i know it will leave a whole but will eventually replace that radio with a Nav that has radio and possibly CD.
In the spot where the radio is, put my new/used Manual Climate control in that spot, single din spot.
Most information is to install an automatic climate control but have not found at a reasonable cost with pigtail wires withe the connector.
So i went the other route and looked for a manual climate control with pigtail wire and connector.
On the back of the Manual climate control i have the wire connector, was able to get about a 5 inch wire so i can splice and connect to existing wiring.
I have not found a wiring diagram that shows what wires i have and what they will connect to.
the other question is:
There are 2 cables connected to the back of the Manual Climate control, where do they get connected to on the existing car?
thanks in advance

It should work to convert from auto to manual if your year was offered with the two options. I'd consider it highly unlikely that the systems beyond the controls would be considerably different since it's cheaper to make one design and swap out the one piece to accommodate different trim levels. Manual to auto would be cost and effort prohibitive, however, since there's a number of extra sensors and such needed for the auto system.

I was surfing eBay to try to find some manual controls I could look at and came across this. It has the pigtails included, which should make your job a lot easier. If you have gray interior, you could always grab that one for now and keep an eye out for a gray frame for cheap later.

Regardless, you're going to need to pull the FSM up and start studying the pinout diagrams of the nav/non-nav controls to get an idea of which wire needs to be connected to which. I linked to the cheat sheet in the primary conversion thread that I used when doing mine that may help you.
