I'm running new wiring for my speakers and I've been having some trouble on the passenger door. I can get the wire through the rubber grommet, but I can't seem to find it inside the car. Correct me if I'm wrong or if there is a better way to do it, but it appears that I have to remove the intake unit and blower motor in order to get to the wire. If anyone has some instructions on how to do this that would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

To remove the blower motor, you need to remove the glovebox (follow these steps), then remove the side kick panel (one 10mm bolt/screw and a plastic nut, then it slides out), remove 3 screws holding the blower motor in (you may need to remove one or more of the connectors that are behind the kick panel to access the last screw), then it slides out. As for the actual blower motor housing, I don't know.

You may not need to remove the blower motor housing to find the grommet, maybe even just removing the glove box (if you haven't already) will help you find it. I've never ran wires to my doors so I don't know its exact location.

A little off-topic, but does your blower motor make a light ticking noise if it's at setting 1 or 2 (assuming you have manual A/C controls), like in this video?

If it does, and you're annoyed by it, there is a cover you can purchase to quiet it down. Read this thread.

thanks for you help, and it does make the ticking noise but only sometimes. I had a 98 grand cherokee before my pathfinder and it did the same thing for about a year so it doesn't really bug me.

I messed around some more under the dash and it looks like my options are to either remove the whole blower motor housing or shrink my hands to the size of an infant's. It looks like the housing is attached to a lot of other stuff besides just the body. Is there any way to remove only it?

As far as I know, there isn't.

This is what a 2001 QX4 looks like with the dashboard removed:

It's difficult to tell, but it looks like it ain't gonna come out without removal of the dash.

Perhaps you're missing something? I know others have ran wires to the doors, I'm hoping someone who knows will post soon.

Wow, I must be missing something cause I can't imagine it would be that complex to run a simple speaker wire.

That's what I'm thinking. Sorry I'm not of any more help.

I finally got the wire through! I found a much simpler way of doing it too. I made a hook with a hanger and just started putting it in this little hole till I finally hooked the wire and pulled it through! Thanks for you help!

I'm glad you got it through. I had thought you already attempted something like that, else I would've suggested it.

Good luck with the rest of the install!

I actually had put about a half hour of effort into that method before posting, but after realizing how hard it would be to get to the grommet by hand I decided to give it another try and it worked!
