Fellow Forum Members,
My 2001 Pathfinder has been wobbling and fishtailing at high speeds for the longest time and by reading postings in this forum I learned it's because several bushings need to be replaced. However, I'm confused on what I need buy. Below are two links for the trailing arm bushings I need to buy to fix my wobbling problem. Is the split design bushing kit better compared to the kit that is not a split design? One sells for $185 and the other sells for $225 which I find further confusing.

Also I would appreciate it a lot if anyone could clarify for me if the bushings circled in GREEN and BLUE also require changing if my objective is to eliminate the wobbling at high speeds? Or is it enough to only replace the bushings circled in RED to eliminate the wobbling problem?

At the minimum due the lower control arm bushings but the uppers should be done as well.

^ Correct.

The split design are for DIY (people who don't have a press).

You'll be amazed at the difference once you get this all done - WELL WORTH the time and effort! :)

BTW, read this thread first: forums.nicoclub.com/so-i-m-trying-to-replace-my-rear-control-arm-bushings-t513881.html

Good luck, and keep us posted!

You don't have to replace the sway bar bushings (circled in blue) unless they're totally gone, but pull on the sway bar itself with the wheels level on the ground - if it gives at all when you move it or pull it, replace your sway bar links for a quieter, more stable ride and better handling around turns.

Any difference in the split vs solid bushings is negligible. When I spoke to one of the guys at 4x4parts.com, he hinted that the single pieces aren't really necessary unless you're doing some extreme offroading. Like asnorton44 said, only the upper and lower arm (red & green) bushings are absolutely necessary to fix the wobbling, but you may consider replacing the panhard rod bushings as well, since its purpose is to control the side to side motion in the rear. 4x4parts.com only sells them in single piece, though, so they may prove challenging to install.

Check out my guide on replacing the control arm bushings to get an idea of what's involved, if you haven't already.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I used the split bushings. Read the write up and follow the suggestions. This would be a very good time to get an impact wrench if you don't have one. You'll be delighted w/ the results.

So, why change the bushings verses changing the whole part itself?

Check out the post I linked to above; Dorman and Moog both sell arms with bushings. I have the part numbers listed there as well.
