I had the dreaded IACV blow, which appears to have fried my ECM. I have replaced the IACV with a new one and the car does run, but the idle is crazy. Confirmed the ECM needs repair (had a free inspection and code read at the local dealer serendipitously)

Anyway, I am gonna pull the ECM and send it out for repair. I have yet to try, and only found one video on youtube that shows it already out - and that guy tore apart his whole dash to get to it. it seems plausible that it could be pulled without doing this, and I am pretty sure I read somewhere in this forum that someone did without taking the dash apart. Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience with this, and any hints or things to be aware of.

Thanks!

This may be a little late, but do not take the dash apart.
That is total BS.
I had to get mine repaired a few years ago, and all I did was remove the lower panel under the steering wheel. A 5 minute job.
The ECM is to the right of the steering column, sort of in behind the radio.
You'll have to cut a few ty-raps and wiggle your way around some harnesses, but that's it.
You'll also need a 10mm socket.
I'm not techy. but I got mine out with little issue.

Yeah it wasn't so bad. Took the bottom panel off, lost one screw, but don't need it. Broke the ECM harness secure/release lever because I didn't realize it had a release catch, but still works.

Just put it back in car runs fine, idle at around 800 so prob won't even other with the idle relearn.

Now off to craigslist
