2001 pathfinder driver seat forward/back motor

Driver's seat will not move forward. Did not use adjustment for several years but wife needs car now and seat is all the way back. Motor sounded like it was bound up and pulled down. Ask mechanic and he said entire seat bottom had to be replaced at a cost of $1500 to $ 1800. Any better ideas out there.

Better ideas? Find a new mechanic, for one.
Secondly, if the ideas in the other thread don't work, go to a junk yard, rip out a seat and take the motor.
