my pathfinder is starting to rattle, especially at 50-60 mph. Per autozone, these are the codes. what do they exactly mean , and how much to repair. And is it possible for a novice to repair . I believe one issue is the knock sensor. thanks for help

Per this, your codes mean:

P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
P0325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

Do you have the 3.3L or 3.5L?

Profile says 2001, therefore 3.5L.

Get an FSM, you can find them as PDFs on the web. It has a diagnostic procedure.

P303 seems to turn out to be the coil (each cylinder has its own). The good news is #3 is relatively easy to get it. But I'd check the plug first.
P325 could be knock sensor or wiring. FSM tells how to check it out. You'll need a good digital ohmeter that can read greater than 10MOhm.

thanks so much, chuck & towncivilian!....do you think I should first, just try and replace plug and coil of cylinder 3 , before I delve into replacing the knock sensor?

There's a debug procedure in the FSM. I'd do that before I started throwing parts at it. And I'd pull the plug and have look at it. MMM, I wonder which other cylinders, if any, have the same coil as #3. You could swap coils and see if the bug moves.

Cylinders 2-6 are the same, cylinder 1 is not.

So swap the #3 and #5 coils and see if the P0303 turns in to P0305. If it does, it's the coil.
