I have auto temp control a/c unit in my 2001 nissan pathfinder and with car running, blower fan is stuck on high speed-adjusting the up/down lever on control panel does nothing. Even when I push the off button on the control panel it still stays on ! I have replaced what I think they call the "resister" unit that is located behind the glove compartment and is inserted in a hole next to the filters. The only way I can drive the car and have the a/c off is to disconnect this part from the wire that apparently runs to the control panel. I have had two mechanics scratching their heads at a loss. They did put a tester on the wire to determine that pushing the up/down speed button does deliver a different voltage to the jack that plugs into the resister part. The part I a referring to is about 2 inches long and has a tiny circuit board where the jack plugs into and has a few silver fins on the back for apparent cooling purposes. Any clue what could be causing this???? Are there any fuses that may control this issue somewhere? I have read here that some people have solved this problem by replacing this part that is why I paid $150 for a new one. Thank you for any help provided...

Hi and welcome to NICO Club!

I don't know the specifics of your system, but I do figure it's all spelled out in the Factory Service Manual (FSM).

Here's a link that should get you to the different chapters of that: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Pathfinder/2001/

The FWD chapter is the foreward and will have a table of contents, the HA chapter has the stuff you're looking for. Maybe you replaced the "amplifier"? There's quite a bit of trouble diagnoses in this chapter that should help.

Please get back to us with any specific questions or if you find a solution. Good luck! :bigthumb:

The resister pac typically is the problem -- last one I had to buy was a bit over $!00. I'm assuming you purchased a new OE part? It could be bad.

You are going to have to work through the service procedure ... or somehow try another resister pac.
