Hey guys...

I know there is a lot of information regarding installing a new head unit in 2001 Pathfinder w/Bose system, but I just need some direction. I never did this before and like many others my cd changer went on me and so I decided to just purchase an unit that had everything in it like the GPS, DVD, Bluetooth etc... now no more GPS hanging off my window everything would be one nice package...
So I went to Crutchfield and finally decided on this unit http://www.crutchfield.com/s_105NT3HDT/ ... T3HDT.html although I made the purchase on EBay for a lot less when you add the unit to the Crutchfield shopping cart it also adds what you need to install it per the model car that you enter. Long story short Crutchfield wanted 850.00 I got everything they were going to sell me for 700.00. Here is the thing I don't get the unit until Wednesday according to tracking but the adapter which I had to buy(below)

does in no way match the connections behind my radio Image

So how does this work... ????? :confused: Does anyone know where I might be able to see a picture of any aftermarket head unit installed that is not in the console just to see the connections?... Is there going to be wires that I don't use???? Do I cut the connectors off in my car and match the colors up to the new harness.... :wtf2:

How much would it cost to replace the car speakers and amps, which seems to be another suggestion but I was trying to keep the cost within reason that seems costly and time consuming? Has anyone else used this Scosche OEM Amplifier Adapter and had success? Did you have a lot of wires that were not used...?????

Thanks for any help....

This is what the front and rear of the unit I took out of my Pathfinder looks like....

What is the part number of the adapter you bought? I just replaced my head unit a few months ago with the same adapter and had very few issues. The connectors all matched up and I did not have to cut anything on the car.

1st post here. The Scosche box is just a speaker level to line-level converter, you still need a wiring harness. http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-NN03B-Ste ... 539&sr=1-3 That should plug up to your factory wiring. You prob wanna get an antenna adaptor as well if you haven't. http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-Nissan-Di ... y_e_text_b

Well I got the new head unit today.. JVC KW-NT3HDT... arrive around noon est. and its all installed I could not get the face plate/cover on but it still looks ok I am going to try and work something out to cover around the edges... maybe I might just leave it like that... the wiring part was very easy that was actually the part that I was weary of since there were numerous wires in the back of my old head unit.... I soldered all the connections heat shrunk them. Actually the hardest part was running the mic and gps antenna wire to the back of the unit and up the inside side panel... Now some say Bose is s#@t but I think the system sounds 100 % better then my stock unit. Here are some pictures... as you can see there is no way to get the face plate to stay on mostly due to the bevel of the wood grain panel.

speaking of sticking out...

Right now I'm looking for a replacement double din for my Pathy and I wondering;

Can I get a full screen double din, the kind that has to pivot/flip down in some way to load a disk, to fit flush with the wood console?
I've looked at quite a few pictures, and I'm not sure. I always thought that it must stick out to accomidate the tilting.

I have a IXa - W404 Alpine unit. Not too fancy but it sits alright, doesnt stick out like whats Trilo got going on. More then certain that the flip up/down/out feature would not be impeded by the console.... And sticking out wouldnt be an issue for the mechanism even if it did

Innovazn you are correct now that I look at the pictures... but it really doesn't look that bad when I am just sitting here looking at it???? I am gonna work on it again tomorrow but there is no play what so ever with the brackets, so I am going to take the units sleeve off and see if there is room to move the mounting screws forward or backward... hmmmm! I would really like to get the face cover on it was well but that might make it stick our even further...

Thanks

Trilo

Dont sweat the trim, Mine wouldnt fit either, its the way the dash is designed. your have to shave the trime down to make it fit and even then would mean pottential damage.

by the way,youre using the stock brackets right?

Ahhh this will bug me all night now... LOL... I am trying to remember if there were any extra screw holes on the side of the bracket... guess i will be up bright and early tomorrow... sounds good though... HD Radio is cool as S#$t, DVD is nice although I by-passed the parking brake so that the DVD plays all the time... I might change that though as it is distracting...

Thanks for the reply, in my head I kept thinking that the thickness of the screen assembly may cause a problem.

This is what goes on in my head;

it doesnt fold like that, as it folds out, the bottom will lift, if you know what im saying... go into Visions if you have one around town, or Futurshop etc, and play with the decks.

Does anyone know where I would tap into the speed signal lead... need to tap this line to get speed limit when using the GPS! And what would be the best steering wheel control adapter in your guys opinion... I know there is one with resistors and one that programs itself?

And I changed all my dash lights to blue LED's and matches the head unit perfect... learned how to do that in this forum... so THANKS!

thanks

Nope maps lights are still original bulbs... as I was sitting under the blue dome light trying to read my JCV manual I realized I could not read it very well... glad I left the map bulbs alone... I may replace them though with the white LED but they are going to remain white.

thanks for you help again...
