I'm a new owner of this really cherry 2001 LE 3.5 with only 60k miles. it has been babied all its life. Tried to AC yesterday and the compressor does not engage. Could that be low refrigerant pressure? Or a bad relay? Fuse? any ideas folks?

Does the A/C operate on full blast? Do you have manual (knobs) or automatic climate control? First thing to do would be check fuses (not sure where they are for A/C) and relay. The relay is in the box on the driver's side. Swap it out with the fog lamp relay (if equipped) or any other blue relay to test operation of the relay.

Congratulations on the purchase, too! Unfortunately with our VQ35DE motors, there is an issue where the screws in the power valves can become loose, back out, and get sucked in by the engine, potentially causing massive engine damage or failure. Nissan does not have a recall for this issue as it's not as often an occurrence as the same issue that affected certain year (don't remember which) Sentra and Maxima engines. I believe Nissan will charge somewhere to the tune of $270-300 to do this, or if you're inclined to do it yourself there is a very good guide over on NPORA. Heh, I didn't mean to welcome you with such a grim fact, but it is a potential major issue especially with your relatively low mileage. My apologies.

Thanks for the helpful reply. I will check the relay and fuses tomorrow and report back.
