My 2001 nissan xterra is dying while driving about every 1/4 mile. Have to sit for about 15-20 mins before it will start again. Keeps turning over but won't start. I hear fuel pump working. Help!

It sounds like you could have a dirty fuel filter. As you drive along, the trash is pushed up against the filter media stopping the flow of fuel and causing the engine to stall. When the motor stalls, the fuel pump is no longer forcing the fuel and trash against the media and it falls allowing you to restart the engine and the cycle. If I'm right, it's a $15 fix.

Nissan did have trouble with the sending units in those, and Frontier, trucks of that time. The terminals at the connector would corrode and turn green causing the truck to quit and/or run when it wanted to. The solution was to replace the sending unit.
