Hey there, I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra with a front driver side window that is stuck 3/4 of the way down, and won't go back up. The window will continue to go down if I push the button, but that's it. Thoughts? I am on a super tight budget. Would like to do the repair myself if it's not a massive headache. I think the most time intensive thing will be removing the door panel, which I have a walk-through for.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You will need a new switch pack. In the meantime pull up really hard on the switch. That should atleast get the window to go all the way back up for now.

Maybe I should have also said that there is the normal motor sound when I start to send the window down, but no sound whatsoever when I try to bring it up. I hope it is as easy as a new switch assembly pack, but I am afraid it might be the motor. I think I can do any of it myself, and would really like to avoid paying someone $75/hour to take a door panel off essentially if it something that I can do myself with a little bit a patience and a couple of beers.

But if the consensus is that it's a PIA then I think maybe the mechanic should do it and I will suck up the cost somehow.

Replace the switch assembly on the driver's side arem rest. This is the most likely candidate. And the switch is about the same price as the motor, but way easier to replace.

I have the same problem and just jumped the power in the wiring harness to force the window to close. Then I just replaced the switch assembly when I had the cash

(By the way it can't be rebuilt.. )

Could you please describe how you jump the power. It would be much appreciated!
