I have recently notice that on my Pathfinder, the Service Engine Soon light does not come on when i turn the key to on or when I start it up. Any Ideas I could try before taking in to the shop?

Have you looked in the factory service manuals here?

Did you recently buy the truck and noticed that the light doesn't work, or have you had the truck for a while and this just started happening?

barnaclebob, I haven't been able to find the factory service manuals, I'm using a mobile browser. What section would they be in? Buzzman, I had recently purchased the truck about a week ago, and noticed that it doesn't work yesterday. I've had the car looked at by a few people under the engine, body, suspension, and all is fine. The truck runs superb with 124k. Just concerned about the light. I am new to Nissan if that wasn't obvious lol. I'm now feeling a little dumb for not checking it. All the other lights work in the instrument panel.

It's possible the bulb is out ... my neighbor had a path with the common O2 problem and his light was on for almost the whole four years he owned it ... he told me the light went out just before he sold it ... but knowing the cause I'm betting the build was the fix.

Never assume ........

That's actually a good observation that you noticed the light wasn't coming on when you started it up. The light coming on for a few secs is part of the status check the truck does at each key-ON.

Yeldogt has the right suggestion to check the bulb. It doesn't take much effort to remove the gauge cluster, and should be an easy fix.

Thanks everyone for the help. Now I don't feel as bad lol. The bulb was blown, so the guy hooked it up to his code reader and what do you know, my o2 sensor is out and the guy actually waived the fee.
