Hey I hope I can get some help from you pros out there. I recently aquired a scan tool and used it to scan my 2001 PAthfinder. I had found that I had O2 ssensor 2 Bank 2 was bad and I got all that fixed but Im still getting the Two codes p1145 and p1140. I believe from what I have read those have to do with the right and left side "both" cam position sensors. Could they both really be bad or do I have anouther issue causing both sensors not to be within manufactures specs, and therefore throws me a code? HELP!!@!

Can't help you with the specific codes but had a recent similar problem with my 01 Pathfinder (also threw a Cam Sensor code) . Everytime I fixed something, another type of code would pop. My mechanic of 20 years honestly told me he was stumped, and the Nissan Dealer wasted $300 of my money.

After an extensive search I found a young mechanic with a computer science degree (in Atlanta, NE Autotek) who actually followed good diagnostic procedures, and discovered the rear main seal was bad. This sounds bizarre but the leak had lowered pressure to the extent that the hydraulically dependent sensors were sending bad data and cuasing codes.

Once this was fixed, the car ran like a top and has for some time now (104K miles). This mechanic said that the other common causes of multiple codes can be a bad ECU and wiring problems (corrosion, etc). Hope this helps. I had a similar issue with a 2000 Maxima and am beginning to feel that it's not a good idea to replace parts just becusae of a code. Unfortunately, too many professionals mechanics take that route, too.
