My wife has a 2001 Pathfinder. All of a sudden, we have a problem with the heating/air. If the heat is on 85, it will blow hot air but if you lower the temp, it will keep blowing hot air until you get to 65. At that point it will blow cold air. There is nothing in between. You either have to have it blowing the hottest air or the coldest air. When you turn it off completely, it will still blow a little air based on what it was set on when it was turned off (either very hot or very cold). I am assuming it is some kind of temperature sensor but I don't know much about the electronic air/heat systems. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a disconnected interior temperature sensor. Has any work been performed recently?

If you are planning on DIYing this you will need the Heating Air Conditioningsection of the ESm. In particular HA-37 will give you the self diagnosis procedure to determine where the circuit fault is.
