Hi -

First post here and in some need of expert advice!! My temperature control unit has been behaving strangely for the past while... Its the manual contol unit and I've only got two speeds on the fan... off and full blast... settings 1, 2, 3 don't do anything...

the second issue is that my stereo has seemingly gone dead. Not the unit itself, but its output only. The CD player turns on and spins and all the other things work... just no sound out of the speakers...

I took everything off and noticed that it all bundled together and the wires all seem to run to a connector (or group of connectors) just under the right hand side of the glove box...

The connectors on both ends seem to be in good condition along with the ones under the glove box...

anyone dealt with this before or have any words of wisdom??

Thanks!!!

fan - probably a what they call a blower motor resistor. very common on vehicles like pontiac grand ams that they go out in and people wonder what the hell is wrong with it, why they only have low and high

radio - a short or fuse maybe

Yes, my guess would be the variable resistor as well. When they fail, you're restricted to high speed.
