I have a 2001 nissan maxima w/ 4w disc brake abs. my wife drives the car mostly, because I upgraded to a infinti g37 coupe.Anyway, the inside surface of the rotor on the rear driver's side was scarred to hell and the inner side pads were worn to bear metal! The pass. side rotor & pads were fine, however the caliper piston had pitting and corrosion on sides. Also the boot around the pass. side piston was shredded. Does this mean my calipers are shot (passenger side) and the driver's side brakes were over compensating for the lack of assistance on the pass. side? Finally, after replacing hardware, I noticed now there is low brake pressure and the brake light still won't shut off. please help me I can't drive this car & I dont want her driving my car for too long!

I would do a complete overhaul on the rear brakes. This includes replacing BOTH calipers, BOTH rotors and the pads. Also, the brake light is probably caused by the brake fluid in the master being too low. Do all that work and make sure the fluid level is correct and all should be good.
