2001 Infiniti QX4 Engine Problems

While driving close to home the other day my QX4 started sputtering badly and almost stalled. I barely managed to get back home. It seems to run as if not all of the spark plugs are firing. But after talking to a friend, he mentioned that some Nissans from 2000-on, 3.0-3.5 engines (similar to the QX4) have been known to have ignition coil problems. Does anyone think that it could be the ignition coils? If so are they hard to change or would I have to take it to a mechanic to get done?

Do you have any codes? that is for sure the first place to start... take the car to autozone and see if theres any codes..

You will want to take your vehicle somewhere and have them do an OBDII test to see if the computer is throwing any DTC (diagnostic trouble codes). You can do this yb taking the car to autozone or some place like that...

AutoZone does it for free.

Unfortunately no Autozones in Canada as far as I know. I really don't know if I even trust driving it to a shop. I might throw some news plugs in and see if thats the problem. It can't hurt.

If I was able to make it to a shop, do you think theres a good chance that the test would turn up any answers?
